Situated at the western edge of Winter Garden’s downtown district, the Plant Street Commons mixed-use project delivers a thoughtful density to the charming historic fabric and contributes to the already vibrant, walkable urban context.

5,000 square feet of flexible retail space animates the main street edge. The mixed-use building holds the Plant Street building line while stepping back slightly from North Central Avenue, accommodating an outdoor cafe venue while revealing the new residential development stretching to the corner.

The language of the mixed-use building responds to the city’s historic design requirements for new construction to take on a 1940’s Mercantile character. The street-level storefronts are cleanly delineated and marked with projected steel lintels and shouldered with cast stone pilaster bases. Brick veneer with stone sills and lintels punctuate the operable double-hung window systems, and the vertical rhythm of the apartment stacks are capped with brick soldier coursing and stone coping bands.

The townhomes wrap the interior vehicular court, presenting pedestrian entries and stoops in a strong vertical order along N. Central Avenue and Bay Street. The homes’ ground floor includes the more public living, dining, and kitchen spaces with direct adjacency to the connected two-car garages at the rear. A single-run stair element springs from the main entry and is expressed as a dynamic vertical marker for each unit. The residences each have three bedrooms and baths at the second floor, and the single-run stair climbs again to access private rooftop terraces for each luxury home.
